LocalShare is dedicated to addressing food insecurity and waste by facilitating the collection of surplus produce from local farms. Collaborating closely with farmers, committed volunteers, and hunger relief partners, LocalShare aims to deliver the freshest food possible to individuals in need. This initiative plays a vital role in advancing a just and sustainable local food system.

The organization serves as an active participant in fostering a resilient food framework that not only uplifts agricultural practices but also enhances regional partnerships, food security, and health equity. Central to this mission are the invaluable volunteers who contribute their time and effort to harvest fresh produce, coordinate deliveries to hunger relief organizations, and organize free produce pop-up markets in economically challenged areas throughout northwest New Jersey.

With the collective efforts of volunteers and community partners, LocalShare has successfully harvested over 525,000 pounds of produce, supporting more than 100 hunger relief organizations in the region. This accomplishment reflects the commitment to building a stronger community through agricultural gleaning initiatives.

LocalShare operates under the auspices of the Foodshed Alliance, a nonprofit organization devoted to enhancing sustainable farming practices, improving accessibility to local healthy foods, and advocating for environmental stewardship within the community.
